Green Visor Capital

Management Company, LLC

Product Marketing Manager at DataFox
San Francisco, CA, US
DataFox is looking for a data-driven product marketer who can take initiative and own how DataFox positions our various data and platform products. In this role, you will craft the messaging and positioning for products. You’ll work closely with marketing, sales, product management, and senior management. You’ll have a tremendous amount of ownership in this role as well as autonomy in defining how we present ourselves externally.
Responsibilities

Own our strategic marketing at the product or product line level. This will start with taking over our marketing website and collateral, including its content, themes, and positioning.
Own our pricing and packaging - help us define the names of new features and workflows we develop, help craft the pricing calculator for our APIs, own the landing page and messaging and how we weave together our customer stories and solutions with the products, themselves.
Launch marketing. Own the calendar of what’s launching soon (release, documentation, etc) and the assets of what is going into the launch. Own new product releases and our integrated campaigns, including working with internal teams to ensure product and positioning readiness. This includes sales, marketing, and PR enablement — i.e. training and educating these teams on the go-to-market, positioning, messaging, differentiation, etc. In these release cycles, you will own the web site copy, data sheets, and other collateral we use.
You will be primary owner for understanding the buyer and market dynamics, which forms the foundation for developing collateral that defines our positioning, messaging, competitive differentiation, and go-to-market strategy.
Must-Have Skills and Experience

3+ years experience in technology product marketing, past experience in demand generation is a plus.
BS/BA in Marketing, Communications or similar field.
Experience with B2B technologies, preferably SaaS software.
Very strong written communication skills and a passion for writing clean, concise, descriptive content.
A penchant for translating technical details into benefits for the user.
An obsession for organization, e.g. ensuring that our story tree is organized in one location and propagated throughout our website, one-pagers, and all other user-facing assets.
Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties.
Ability to distill complex concepts (e.g. advanced APIs) into approachable themes.
Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
Experience with testing, e.g. A/B testing on marketing ad copy to drive planning and positioning.
A desire to lead; you are not entering a 20 person product marketing team where you will fill a specific role within a specific team with lots of explicit instruction on how to do things. Here, you will be a leader in a new organization and will set the foundation for the future of our product marketing organization.
Willingness to take risks – done well is better than perfect.
Eagerness to learn about new technologies, e.g. machine learning.
Superb attention to detail.
