Charged to understand growth companies and SaaS finance and accounting, the Finance team acts as the bastion of FiscalNote stability with its finger always on the pulse of the company’s financial affairs and operations.  
 
About the Position
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to supervise, track and evaluate day-to-day activities. The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises a small team of staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. This position reports to the Global Controller.
 
You Will
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
Assist the Global Controller in the daily banking requirements and reconciliations.
Ensure the monthly and quarterly compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
Supports budget and forecasting activities.
Collaborates with the other finance team members to support goals and objectives.
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
Responds to inquiries from the Global Controller and other finance team members  regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
Work with the Global Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
Supervise the general ledger to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. 
 
About You
Methodical. Detail-oriented. Tenacious. You are a self-starter who can work with little supervision. Always on the hunt for ways to help out, you proactively address issues and tasks to ensure ultimate attention and completion. You both understand and appreciate the need for clean and auditable financial records in order to enable rapid and well-informed decision making. You are able to direct and supervise with clarity and firmness to achieving financial accounting objectives. 
 
You Have
Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience with proven knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations (especially in SaaS business model, and growth companies dealing with stock based compensation, capitalized software development costs, etc.)
Minimum 8-10 years experience in accounting / financeExperience in working with multiple legal entities and consolidations (preferred)
CPA (strongly preferred)
2 years of public accounting experience (preferred)
Advanced computer skills in MS Office including strong excel skills.
Advanced knowledge and experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or other similar platform.
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and supervisory skills required.
Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
