About the Role

The CFO/COO reports to the CEO and serves as an integral member of the executive management team. As COO this candidate provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, processes and procedures in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. As the CFO, the candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring and evaluating overall corporate strategy with the CEO and leaders of business with emphasis on bottom line performance, working capital and enhancing shareholder value. This position will provide useful financial insights to help make better decisions about formulating and executing strategy. This role has both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on company operations, helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our competitive position. This seasoned strategist not only understands current finance and accounting practices and trends, but has proven experience raising capital and accelerating growth in FinTech or technology startup.

What You'll Be Doing

Financial Oversight:

  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of CrowdStreet with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts

  • Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team to ensure timely and accurate reporting, fiscal control/budgeting, and accurate forecasting

  • Provide strategic recommendations to the executive management team and board of directors to enable investments for  CrowdStreet growth.  Secure appropriate financial capital for growth to maintain our category leadership while further building our competitive advantage

  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting, legal and tax compliance.

  • Advise on long-term business and financial planning mechanisms

  • Establish and develop exceptional working relations with senior management, Board of Director members, external partners and stakeholders

Operations Oversight:

  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning leveraging OKR methodology.

  • Partner with the CEO on sales management to budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth targets over the near term

  • Aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure Crowdstreet achieves investor targets relative to growth and profitability

  • Provide leadership and direction on key Investment management and product related items 

  • Oversight and management of internal and external legal initiatives and efforts, and legal spend

  • Advise on legal aspects of the company’s financing, including assessing and advising on current and future business structures and legal entities.

  • Advise on complex business transactions in negotiating critical contracts.

  • Assist in the protection of the organization by ensuring it is legally protected and by ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and policies. 

  • Build a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met

What We Must Have

  • Experience as CFO with venture funded, high growth company

  • Experience in financial services or investment management industries and understanding of operational and regulatory topics.

  • Finance experiences in the technology sector, specifically around SAAS models and GAAP.  

  • 10+ years experience in executive leadership positions

  • Working knowledge of raising capital beyond traditional lines of credit

  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions

  • Experience driving strategic initiatives, organizational change and processes to achieve significant growth targets

  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity

  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues

  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics

  • Experience with leadership and oversight of all internal and external legal aspects (personnel, processes, expenses, planning, etc)

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance
